B3+’s, Dave Taylor/John Clark/Franz Hackl, blend of improvised and composed passages defy every attempt to categorize it. You will hear an exciting meeting of Bartok, Pastorius, Schubert, Bach along with early classical music, jazz standards, free jazz, original music, authorized and non-authorized interpretations of pop tunes, and Welsh hymns. Think: Gunther Schuller meets P. Diddy meets Yo-Yo Ma meets Gil Evans meets Michael Jackson. Get the picture? http://www.b3+.com

Founded by Rachel Drehmann, Renate Rohlfing and Chris Otto, The Sabine Players is an East Coast based collective of musicians bent on the creation of concerts promoting newly commissioned works and seldom performed masterpieces written for chamber ensemble. This concert features the premier of John Clark’s ‘Fakes and Snakes,’ which was made possible by a grant from the International Horn Society’s Meir Rimon Commissioning Fund. Also on the program is ‘Trinity’ by NYC-based musician Michael Atkinson who has collaborated as a performer/arranger with Sufjan Stevens, My Brightest Diamond, Clogs, Christina Courtin, Osso, Bryce Dessner (of The National), and St. Vincent and is principal French hornist of the Knights Chamber orchestra.

This concert is presented in partnership with Performing Arts at CAM and will feature art from Chelsea Art Museum’s permanent collection by Jean Miotte, whose extensive collected works are preserved as a legacy for New York, where he has had a studio in SoHo since 1978. http://www.chelseaartmuseum.org

This performance is funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
