This concert presents cutting-edge electroacoustic performers: Miya Masaoka, Shoko Nagai, Satoshi Takeishi and Jane Rigler; and features the Music Cre8tor, an interactive music composition software program originally conceived by MNMP founder Paul Nash for children with disabilities. Wii remotes adapted for use with a laptop allow motion sensor technology to facilitate music composition electronically. See a video demonstration here.
Jane Rigler, flutist, composer, improviser, educator and producer of events, is an active featured performer in contemporary, improvisatory and experimental music festivals throughout the U.S. and Europe, presenting both acoustic and electroacoustic shows as a soloist as well as within ensembles. Expanding upon her classical background (B.M., Northwestern University), she gained her M.M. and Ph.D. (UC San Diego) resulting in her book, *The Vocalization of the Flute*, which demonstrates a variety of imaginative ways in which the voice and flute interact in non-wetern traditions, Western 20th-21st Century works and her own compositions. http://www.janerigler.com/
Miya Masaoka is a musician, composer and sound artist who has created works for koto and electronics Laser Koto, laptop and video, and written scores for chamber orchestras and mixed choirs. In her work she investigates the sound and movement of insects, as well as the physiological responses of plants, the human brain and her own body. http://www.miyamasaoka.com/
Satoshi Takeishi, drummer, percussionist and arranger, is a native of Mito, Japan. He studied music at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Since moving to New York in 1991 he has performed and recorded with many musicians, among them Ray Barretto, Carlos "Patato" Valdes, Eliane Elias, Marc Johnson, Eddie Gomez, Randy Brecker, Dave Liebman, Anthony Braxton, Mark Murphy, Herbie Mann, Paul Winter Consort, Rabih Abu Khalil, Toshiko

Shoko Nagai (Piano, Toy piano & Concertina) Born in Nagoya, Japan, composer and pianist Shoko Nagai has been evolving as a professional musician for twelve years. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1999 she moved to New York City and quickly established herself in the downtown jazz scene, performing with such renowned artists as John Zorn, Rasheid Ali, Butch Morris,Tom Rainy, Coung Vu, Ikue Mori, Miho Hatori (cibo matto), Roy Champbell, Satoshi Takeishi, Trevor Dunn, Sam Newsome, Greg Tardy, Daniel Carter. http://www.myspace.com/shokonagai
