MNMP is looking to expand its Board of Directors to include passionate Ambassadors for the Arts in their communities who feel that MNMP's work is important and want to help.
Ideal candidates will have the following traits:
- a deep passion for arts education and the performance and creation of contemporary jazz and new music.
- the willingness to spend some of their time to help our development team to knock on doors with potential individual and corporate donors
- a wide range of connection in their ethnic and professional communities
- an entrepreneurial background or experience as a senior officer in their profession

Information for Applicants to the MNMP Creators Platform
Periodically MNMP showcases works by composers and artists not affiliated with the group. We perform and exhibit works which demonstrate originality in conception and high level of professionalism. In Jazz, works outside the mainstream, using other forms of notation, are relevant as long as they provide for use of rhythm section players. We are interested in knowing about you and your work.
Please send a sample of your music on CD or a video that best represents what you would do with a group of outstanding musicians and performers who are eclectic improvisers along with any reviews. For Jazz, a sample of a score for at least 7 instruments is essential. Send all materials along with a SASE (If you want your materials returned) to:

Teaching Artists Sought for School Progams and Teacher Workshops
The Manhattan New Music Project, an arts organization offering educational programming in music, dance, theater, drama, visual arts and creative writing, is now building a roster of Teaching Composers to serve for residencies in the New York City Public Schools (grades K-12). Individuals will be independent contractors working part-time.
Responsibilities:
The Teaching Composer will enable children (especially elementary grades) to make meaningful connections with the creative and analytical (problem solving) processes of creation in the arts and develop analytical and aesthetic comprehension. The Teaching Artist will be responsible for:
- designing meaningful, accessible, and structured experiences in improvisation, creation and performance enabling students to understand and materially participate in such activities;
- developing skills in performing in the arts without the encumbrance of traditional methods;
- introducing students to the basic elements of the arts discipline at hand
- introducing simple approaches to graphic notation that enable students to represent ideas, and improvise, perform and reproduce their original ideas
- increasing receptivity and aesthetic response to the arts and placing artistic experiences in a cultural context;
- reinforcing language skills, problem solving and connection to other subject matters;
- producing residency work plans in collaboration with teachers that can achieved;
In addition, highly qualified individuals are needed to:
- Conduct staff development workshops for teachers (regardless of artistic background), enabling teachers to conduct similar activities using a variety of approaches and strategies with children on their own.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in the performing arts
- Evidence of professional activity in the arts; a recorded or live sample of playing and original composition(s) will be expected for musicians, videos and writing samples for drama and theater artists, a portfolio for visual artists and video of dance performances for dancers.
- Proven teaching experience in artist-in-schools programs , schools, or other classroom settings
- Capability of designing learning activities using easily replicable means. All Candidates will be asked to develop and demonstrate sample lessons as responsive to this approach.
- Ability to build connections to other areas of learning (e.g., language arts, mathematics, social studies)

INTERNSHIPS
Internships are available with the Manhattan New Music Project:
Students in arts administration programs and music education programs are particularly welcome to apply. These positions will provide training and experience in the following areas:
- fund development research & solicitation
- program development
- site specific performance development
- booking residencies and performances
- database & financial management.
